"Scandinavian Folklore" är ett praktverk med över 600 bilder på mer än 100 varianter av folkdräkter och bunader från Sverige och Norge. En späckad presentbok som visar folkligt dräktskick till vardag och fest, med texter på engelska översatta till svenska och norska. Boken följer årets växlingar från norr till söder, med miljöer både från gårdslivets och fäbodarnas vardag och årets stora högtider. Ambitionen är att inspirera och visa dräkterna på ett sätt som väcker läsarens nyfikenhet. Scandinavian Folklore är gjord av fotografen Laila Durán i samarbete med nordiska dräktsamlare och museer.

Scandinavian Folklore is a book intended as a popular description and inspiration to everyone interested in old traditions and customs connected to the Nordic folk costumes. With more than 600 photos of both old garments as well as newly made it shows that costume traditions are seldom static and often influenced by fashion and the temperament of the wearer. The photographer Laila Durán has cooperated with private collectors and museums in presenting some of the traditional costumes from Sweden, Norway and Lappland. The pictures are showing everyday life as well as festivities and are set in the shifting seasons from the arctic north to the south of Scandinavia.
