* Unique sidebyside worked examples break out the conceptual explanation into the left column, with corresponding equations on the right, making it easier for students to see a problem unfold. (See p.178)
FOCUS ON CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING& INDEPENDENT THINKING
* Enhanced conceptual understanding: crucial to students reaching a complete knowledge is the understanding of concepts, not simply equations and numbers. Tipler achieves a greater conceptual understanding through the combination of Concept Checks, Conceptual Examples, Pitfall Statements, and Conceptual EndofChapter Problems throughout the book.
* ContextRich Examples are designed to reflect the way scientists and engineers solve problems in the real world. These may include information not needed to solve the problem, or may require students to find additional information in tables, or draw on their own experiences or previously obtained information. * 'Try It Yourself' selfcheck examples appear periodically throughout each chapter. These use the same sidebyside format, but the descriptions are less detailed. If students cannot complete the solution on their own, they know that they need to review the previous group of worked examples before proceeding.
